On March 3, 2009, the township of Maplewood established an official Green Team, which was established per the requirements of Sustainable Jersey.  Drawing from the entire Maplewood community, the Green Team is now working to create a set of goals, policies, and actions for Maplewood that are, in essence, sustainable practices for a viable green future.

Membership to the Green Team is by invitation and is comprised of the  following  members:

Members of the Environmental Advisory Committee, the Township Administrator, the Township Engineer, the Director of the Department of Public Works, the Director of the Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Affairs, a representatives of the Police Department, a representative of the Fire Department, members of the business community, representatives from the Board of Education, members of the Transportation Committee.  Also included are representatives of the faith community, various planning and zoning boards, the Historical Preservation Commission, Youthnet, the Garden Club, and interested and committed members from the community at large.
